Code-switching in the English class is discussed heatedly in the academic circles all the time. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the phenomenon of college teachers’ classroom code-switching. After investigating 60 undergraduates and 10 teachers who take English as the target language and Chinese as the native language in a Chinese college in the form of recording, questionnaires and interviews, the author learns the situations of code-switching, both teachers’and students’ attitudes towards code-switching and teaching results of code-switching in the college English classroom, and it is positive to make the mother tongue to play its role in assisting teaching. In the end, accordingly, some feasible advice is put forward to perfect the application of code-switching and its teaching effects. Limitations on this thesis are mentioned as well.
